'I LOVE BEING ON STAGE WITH MY BOY!'

He's hitting the road with a new tour, a new book and a new bandmate – his son!

Growing up in rural Ireland, Damien Leith was surrounded by a strong mix of traditional Irish folk music, along with many modern classics, which all helped inspire him to pursue a career as a singer-songwriter.

Now two decades and 12 albums since he won Australian Idol in 2006, Damien is excitedly preparing to share his favourite Irish classics with his adopted home in a new tour Damien Leith: Ireland Orchestrated.

DREAM TOUR

"This tour is something I've wanted to do for a long time as I grew up on Irish music," the 49-year-old shares with Woman's Day.

“I've got an entire orchestra and a traditional Irish band and between us, we're playing Ireland's greatest classics and the most well-known songs.”

Over the tour, which will travel across Australia until November, Damien will be performing hits such as You Raise Me Up, Danny Boy and Galway Bay.

“I love performing anywhere in Australia, but there are certain places which are absolutely amazing, like the State Theatre in Sydney or Hamer Hall in Melbourne,” Damien says.
