Cleo's parents reveal: 'Our heartbreaking decision'

Amid a court battle with their little girl's kidnapper, Ellie and Jake are fighting to keep her safe

The family of Cleo Smith have told of the horror, shock and anger they continue to feel nearly two years after their daughter's abduction, with little Cleo suffering frequent nightmares after her ordeal.

In a new interview, Ellie Smith and Jake Gliddon reveal how Cleo, now five, is still affected by her 18-day imprisonment at the hands of convicted kidnapper Terence Kelly.

"She still has her sad nights, her nightmare nights. Her nightmare nights are the worst nights," Ellie told 60 Minutes.

"She doesn't have the words to explain what she's sad about. She was always a really independent little girl. Like, she would love sleeping by herself. She would love her own space... Now she's a lot more with us."
