BRYAN BROWN 'I'LL TAKE THOSE STORIES TO THE GRAVE...'

On his third book, Aussie film royalty Bryan is at the height of his writing prowess

He's portrayed some of the most iconic Australian characters of all time, but it's inside his books that we get to see who the real Bryan Brown is. Here, the veteran actor, 78, talks to us about his new novel, The Hidden, whether he'll ever sit down to write his memoirs, and what his all-time favourite film is.

This is your third book now – how does that feel?
I'm surprised. I wrote a book of short stories about five years ago [Sweet Jimmy] and I thought that would be the end. And then along came The Drowning and now comes The Hidden. I'm quite enjoying telling stories in a different way because I've been telling them [on screen] for 50 years and this is a whole different world really.

Do you always have stories percolating in your brain?
No. But I've always been a curious bugger and, you know, people walk past and I often think, “What's their story?” Everyone's got a story.

How do you find the writing experience?
