Why it's OK to HAVE A TREAT
Woman & Home UK
|May 2025
This month, our fitness expert Annie Deadman on how indulging in something once in a while doesn't have to ruin your good intentions
-

The shops are awash with sugary Easter treats. Fact. Sugar isn't good for us because too much of it can cause heart disease, high blood pressure, and increase the risk of strokes and the likelihood that we will suffer from an inflammatory disorder.
I know what you're thinking - this is going to be one of Deadman's dull 'Don't do that, do this instead' columns. It really isn't. It's going to be an Easter treatment of what I have been saying for years. Treat your body with respect and feed it 80-90% of the time with whole, natural foods rather than made-up chemical ultra-processed stuff pretending to be food, which - and I can't say it any clearer than this - is going to do you harm. That leaves, you'll notice, 10-20% of your diet for the odd treat.
