Style guru Trinny Woodall chats about building a global brand, single parenting and looking forward to being in her 60s

She may have found fame in the early 2000s for presenting What Not to Wear on TV, alongside Susannah Constantine, but these days, Trinny Woodall is far more than a styling sensation. Over the past 10 years, the 59-year-old has been putting her heart and soul – even selling her house – into building her beauty and skincare empire.
Launched in 2017, Trinny London’s range of stackable, cream-based make-up is a huge hit with fans, how-to videos on their social media. Last year, she expanded into skincare with Trinny London, which made a revenue of £50 million up to March 2022.
It becomes clear on woman&home’s cover shoot that Trinny – whose real name is Sarah-Jane Duncanson Woodall – hasn’t lost her styling touch either. She’s a pro – knowing how to pose, what suits her tall, slender frame and mastering when she needs a top-up of blusher or lippy.
Although her career may be flying life hasn’t always been easy for the entrepreneur. In the past, she has been open about struggling with drug and alcohol addiction in her teens and 20s, while her ex-husband, and father of her 19-year-old daughter, Lyla, Johnny Elichaoff, tragically took his own life in 2014. Lyla was just nine at the time and Trinny has spoken about dealing with the shock of his unexpected death and Lyla’s grief in the years parenting. Earlier this year, the star also went through a break-up with her partner of 10 years, Charles Saatchi. She doesn’t want to delve into any very personal details, but Trinny does tell us she’s now in a better place. ‘Life is good. I’m excited by the future,’ she adds.
