Did you know that where you're born has an impact on your long-term wellbeing? Ensuring equal access to quality healthcare is one of the UK's greatest challenges, with a person's background and environment significantly shaping their future. This manifests as significantly lower life expectancy and a greater proportion of life spent in poor health. This can be particularly true for children and young people.

Believing that the NHS cannot and should not face these challenges alone, NHS Charities Together is showing support. Through a network of 220 local NHS charities, NHS Charities Together is funding projects that aim to give children and young people the best possible start in life.

Where a child is born can determine the healthcare they receive and even how long they live. In fact, infant mortality in the poorest areas of the UK is more than twice that of the wealthiest areas.* The work NHS Charities Together is doing is to ensure that children and young people, no matter where they are born, have the chance to thrive.
