Over a third of Brits say they are unable to achieve exercise and diet goals because they’re ‘too tired’, while 38% put it down to a ‘lack of motivation’, according to a YouGov poll. There is a solution. Just start small. From changing your workout time to chewing properly, there are plenty of proven shortcuts to help you achieve a better body and mind – and they require hardly any effort.
Check your shadow to protect skin
Sunscreen should be worn on exposed skin year-round. But did you know that UV rays are strongest when the sun is highest in the sky? In the UK, this is roughly 11am to 3pm during British Summer Time, but a good trick, which you can use at any time of year, is the ‘shadow rule’. If your shadow is shorter than your height, the sun’s UV rays are strong and you need to take extra care. The safest thing to do is to stay out of the sun altogether at these times but if you can’t, ensure you use SPF30 or higher and reapply every two hours – and immediately after swimming or sweating.
