As I look ahead to Christmas this year, I feel that familiar cocktail of excitement and mild dread. The children are growing up fast now - and who knows how many more years of 'magic' we have left? Last year, my seven-year-old began opening her stocking at 10.30pm on Christmas Eve (don't judge me - we had filled them early so I could bank an early night!). So yes, we are savouring these last magical years with real intention.
