The prince is standing on shaky ground after the King cuts his cash

ANDREW'S HOUSING CRISIS

The King has cut the $2 million living allowance given to his brother Prince Andrew because he won’t move out of his home.

His Majesty, 75, has run out of patience with Andrew after repeatedly asking him to leave Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, and has axed the annual amount he gets from the Privy Purse, according to the updated version of the book Charles III by Robert Hardman.

The King thinks 30-room Royal Lodge is too big for Andrew – who lives there with his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York – and wants him to move to the much smaller Frogmore Cottage. This was home to Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 43, until they were evicted last year.

But Andrew, 64, has refused and as a result his older brother feels “no obligation to continue paying his day-to-day allowance” which is around $2.16 million a year. According to Robert, Charles is following the wishes of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who in the last years of her life wanted to move Harry and Meghan out of Frogmore, and Andrew in.

A palace source told Robert, “It was mainly a money thing, as she could see the cost of Royal Lodge was becoming unsustainable.”
