The results of surveys are always being sent to me.

Some of them have gauged the opinions of New Zealanders on the most esoteric of subjects, which leave me scratching my head wondering how I'd be expected to make a radio show out of that.

However, this one appealed to me. It was from a food kit company who had surveyed parents on the importance of teaching children how to cook. The report authors talked about the erosion of skills taking place among our young ones that reflected wider pressures on family life – we're time poor, there are so many more convenience food options than there used to be and we don’t have the same household routines we used to.
