What we love right now

1 Tea, cosy

Whether you're planning a birthday party or a bridal shower, or you're just looking for an excuse to dress up, we have just the thing: Classic High Tea at The Cellars-Hohenort, an SLH Hotel, in Constantia, Cape Town. Served in The Greenhouse, this four-course celebratory affair includes a glass of Cap Classique, a selection of tea sandwiches and savoury bites, scones with strawberry jam and Chantilly cream, and delicate confectionery. Nigiro tea — or Lavazza coffee — is bottomless, and you have a choice of 11 loose-leaf teas. There is even a Cellars-Hohenort blend of Nigiro tea that incorporates the spicy fragrance and bronze-apricot colour of the Liz McGrath Rose. (This rose, which grows in the hotel gardens, was created in 2003 to commemorate the 80th birthday of the late Mrs M, as the staff called her.) Served Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 2pm, it costs R455 per adult and R235 per child aged 4 to 11. Call 021 794 2137 or email functions@cellars-hohenort.co.za to book; booking is essential, with at least 24 hours' notice required. - Liezel

image2 Framed

Choosing new frames is always a bit of a struggle for me — I'm indecisive and shy about trying them on in public. So when Adele Camarena invited me to try Spectacle World’s new frame-styling consultation, I jumped at the chance. She and her team recently became the first in the country to earn a certificate in The Art of Eyewear Styling, presented by Eva Davé of the Eyewear Styling Academy in London. ‘Glasses are the most visible accessory we wear,’ Adele says. ‘The right frame can enhance your features and create that wow moment.’ With her help, I chose a pair of khaki William Morris London frames that fit perfectly. It costs R680 for an eye test and frame-styling consultation. - Annelee
