The unseen Rovals

|July 2024
Candid, behind the scenes and neverbefore-seen images of the royal family have been released for a new exhibition.
-

Like many sisters having their photo taken, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret - wearing matching royal blue satin jackets grin and giggle at each other between clicks of famed British photographer Norman Parkinson's camera. The contact sheet for this photo shoot, taken in 1980 to mark their mother's 80th birthday, is remarkable in its candidness: These two royal women who shaped the modern monarchy, captured in a private moment like never before.
The behind-the-scenes insight is one of many rare and intimate moments with the British royal family that have been released by the Royal Collection Trust for a new exhibition, Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography, at Buckingham Palace.
