Compact two-berth has some interesting upgrades but the layout could be an issue

THE UK VERSION of Adria's new-look Action caravan – designed, like Swift's Basecamp, to appeal to those of a more sporty persuasion – made its first appearance at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC this February, but as a prototype. It still has a couple of changes to be made before it will appear on dealer forecourts later this year – when its layout will have been switched so the door is on the 'correct' side for the UK.

Pitch and setup

The new Action will be available in two different formats: Action, and (for £1500 more) Action Sports, which includes a more rugged exterior with a spare wheel on the A-frame in place of a locker. Here we look at the Action, but the outside of the production version could be slightly different from what you see in these pictures. UK versions will have silver sides rather than white, with a blue, rather than grey, undercarriage.

Insulation has been improved on earlier models so that, for example, the extruded polystyrene core in the floor is now 38mm thick. There's a new LED silhouette along the top corner, too, while the external locker door gives you access to an area that is lit and extends uninterrupted right under the front settee inside. Alloy wheels add a touch of class, as does the new light cluster on the curvy back panel.
