SunFuel team presented the SunFuel Sustainable trophy to Zubin Saxena from the Radisson Hotel Group at the very first Outlook Traveller Hospitality Awards

"Radisson Hotel Group has been a pioneer in taking action to reverse climate change and has always showcased a commitment to the environment."

Zubin Saxena is the Managing Director and Senior Area VP for South Asia at the Radisson Hotel Group. In this interview, Zubin talks about sustainable operations at Radisson, EV charging infrastructure and partnership with SunFuel.

Can you share some of the initiatives taken by Radisson Group towards achieving sustainable operations and how your partnership with SunFuel supports these efforts?

Sustainability for us is all about optimizing processes and the systems we control to align with our three pillars: Think People, Think Community, and Think Planet.

Keeping up with this commitment, we have undertaken initiatives such as Soap for Hope, Linen for Life, and Flush Me Not Program to strengthen our leadership position and build on our long tradition of being a responsible business. We have also partnered with SunFuel to create EV-charging infrastructure across our portfolio of 100+ hotels.

In addition to this, over 450 of our hotels worldwide are eco-labelled. We aim to set science-based emission targets and work towards a zero-carbon transition of our global operations.

THE SOLE MEMORY

I WAS LOOKING FOR A SHOE shop to get my favourite pair repaired. The August Texan heat had loosened the sole on one of them. In other times, I would have thrown the pair away rather than go through the trouble of finding a repair shop. But I loved these shoes and searched for someone to bring them back to life.

THE BORDERLESS GURU

THE AIR IS THIN, TINGED with the scent of juniper. A swift wind whips through faded prayer flags, while glaciers carve valleys and jagged peaks pierce a sky the colour of lapis lazuli. Standing here, the idea of political borders feels almost absurd. Maps may mark out India, Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibet, but the landscape itself refuses to be partitioned. These mountains carry a shared heritage, embodied by a single figure who transcends frontiers: Padmasambhava, the Lotus-Born. Known as Guru Rinpoche, the Precious Master, Padmasambhava brought Buddhism to Tibet in the eighth century. His image gazes out from gompas across the Himalayas-wrathful yet compassionate, eyes filled with the wisdom of lifetimes. To see him only as a missionary is to miss the larger truth.
