If you're looking for unique places to visit in India for the season, here are the destinations that should be on every wishlist
-
As the temperature soars and the sun burns bright, domestic and international travellers yearn for respite in the tranquil oasis of India. Here are four emerging and distinctive destinations that promise an unparalleled blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure. We also look at some classic examples of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in tourism that have added new layers to India's tourism landscape.
GANDHI SAGAR: A HIDDEN GEM IN CENTRAL INDIA
Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of central India lies Gandhi Sagar, a hidden gem awaiting to be discovered by those in search of tranquillity and natural beauty.
For adventure enthusiasts, Gandhi Sagar offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities. From fishing and boating to trekking, there's no shortage of adventure to explore the region's diverse ecosystems.
The sanctuary, an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA), attracts many migratory and non-migratory birds throughout the year. The vast open spaces and grasslands make it an ideal location for reintroducing cheetahs. Furthermore, the sanctuary translocates spotted deer from other forest areas to increase the prey base.
The rock art found near Gandhi Sagar is globally renowned. Located approximately 30 kilometres from the town, the Chaturbhuj Nala Rock Shelters stretch over a 5-kilometre trail. The destination is being considered for UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
