A World of Adventure in WESTERN AUSTRALIA
India Outbound
|November - December 2025
Western Australia, the largest state in Australia, packs a world of adventure in its vast landmass of 2.5 million sqkm. The 12,500 km-long coastline of the state is home to several World Heritage sites, stunning beaches and unique towns. Besides the water-based or coastal adventure activities, Western Australia also has a treasure trove for adventures on the land and up in the air.
Perth, the capital of Western Australia, is a beautiful, bustling modern metropolis that has all that a visitor can seek in a city, from displays of colourful urban wall-art and shopping districts to amazing waterfront, besides a large bouquet of global culinary excellence on display in its numerous restaurants.
But few may realise that just a short drive of under three hours from Perth, there is a treasure trove of activities that can send adrenaline soaring in anyone looking for adventure.
Recently, India Outbound had the privilege to be invited by Tourism Western Australia, to explore the largest Australian state, which is about 76 pc the size of India, and sample some of its signature adventure experiences.
Most of the experiences were located in Margaret River Region, a collection of six towns, spread over a relatively large area that also includes over 150 wineries, 50 beaches and numerous surfing spots. Not just scenic views or delectable food and top-class wines, Margaret River Region also offers a large variety of adventure activities to visitors.
Cape to Cape Track
About 250 km south of Perth, perched in the southwestern corner of Western Australia lies an adventure activity that is challenging not just for ordinary mortals but also for experienced trekkers and endurance walkers.
Cape to Cape Track is a 130-km long nature trail that runs alongside the coast from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin, traversing the length of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, and overlooking the adjoining Ngari Capes Marine Park. The entire region is blessed with bountiful biodiversity, not just flora and fauna on the land, but also in terms of marine life. Large tracts of the trail are covered in blue-green grass and a number of colourful flowers that grow in the wilderness here.

In many ways, the year 2025 has turned out to be Africa's Year, at least on the international tourism market as the continent outpaced every other region of the world in growth in international tourist arrivals for the first half of the year. The growth seems to have continued in the second half, too, and looks certain to continue into the next year as African nations proactively seek to diversify their source markets, with focus on India and China.
