WHAT'S ON IN 2026
Sydney Fish Market
One of Sydney's most anticipated reveals in recent years, the new Sydney Fish Market officially opens on 19 January. It features a massive harbourside retail floor, world-class auction and wholesale facilities, classes at the Sydney Seafood School, and more than 40 restaurants and dining options from top names including Somer Sivrioğlu, Luke Nguyen and Toshihiko Oe. The new site is expected to attract more than six million visitors annually, and retains the spirit of the former fish market with a stunning, eco-conscious design on Blackwattle Bay.
Melbourne Food & Wine FestivalThis year’s MFWF lineup includes 170 events in Melbourne and 26 in regional areas, including a Greek take on the ever-popular World’s Longest Lunch. Global sensation Cake Picnic will bring a sweet affair, while international venues including Le Doyenné and New York's Bridges come to town. The festival runs from 20 to 29 March.
Tasting AustraliaAdelaide's annual celebration of South Australian food and drink culture is back between 8 and 17 May, with bold experiences from a new creative team including Africola's Duncan Welgemoed.
The Lands by Capella
In February, the heritage-listed Department of Lands in the Sydney CBD will be unveiled as a new destination events venue. Adjacent to the Capella hotel, the five event spaces (including a ballroom) will be joined by restaurants, bars, experiential retail and modern members club The Sandstones Club by Florence Guild, all due to open in 2026.
