THE QUIET ROLLOUTS FROM IOS 18

In Case You Missed It...

Apple promised massive updates in iOS 18, but many were missing from the initial rollout.

Since then, Apple has been adding these features bit by bit (the smarter Siri is still nowhere to be found), though they've been fairly quiet about these feature launches. From cleaning up the background of your photos to pausing a video in the middle of recording it, then picking back up without starting anew, it's likely your iPhone can already do a lot more than you knew it could. So, before you get swept away with iOS 26's hot new offerings—and there are many!—here are 15 features from the past year worth knowing about.

1) Opt In to Apple Intelligence

If you've been wondering where all these promised Apple Intelligence features are, you'll need to do two things: enable Apple Intelligence in Settings, and make sure you're using an iPhone 15 Pro or later. To enable Apple Intelligence and gain access to features like writing tools, Siri with ChatGPT integration, and more, open Settings, tap Apple Intelligence & Siri, and toggle on Apple Intelligence.

Have you ever turned on your iPhone flashlight and wished it wasn't quite so intense? You can now customize your iPhone flashlight's beam both in terms of brightness and the width of the beam, perfect for switching between precision jobs and lighting up a whole area. Turn on your flashlight, and a control display at the top will let you select your brightness by swiping up and down and adjust width by swiping left and right.
