Having first been established in 1979, the world of handheld videogames is nothing new but the recent technological advancements show that in many ways, it's just getting started. The idea of playing console-quality games you would normally find from the likes of PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo on the move is now very much a reality.

While most of the big names you've come to expect have got in on the action, plenty of third-party and independent hardware developers are also experimenting in the sector to offer something different.
