With new MLA and Quantum Dot OLED technologies creating so much buzz this year, Sony's 65A80L, with its 'traditional' OLED panel, initially looks like a tough sell.

While it might lack on-paper glamour, though, it doesn't take long watching it to realise that it's actually mesmerisingly good for a 2.3L 65-inch TV Sony's Cognitive Processor XR TV 'brain' does a phenomenal job of balancing and refining every part of the 65A80L's imagery, meaning that while its pictures might not be as bright and vivid as those of some 2023 OLED rivals, they're still among the most flat-out beautiful, engaging, immersive and cinematic pictures we've seen. They're joined, too, by Sony's equally compelling Acoustic Surface sound system, where the screen itself functions as the main speakers to provide an exceptionally direct, well-rounded, room-filling sound.
