With Wi-Fi on board and an app to guide you through setup, the Victrola Stream Carbon could be the most hassle-free turntable going. It even auto-connects to any Sonos speakers in your network. Aside from attaching the belt to the motor spindle, which is a touch fiddly (top tip: use a chopstick), it's a doddle.

Each element of the Stream Carbon feels strong and has a reassuring weight to it, with a die-cast aluminium platter and a low-resonance veneered MDF plinth that passes the trusted doesn't skip when we bash the table' test. The thick silicone slipmat is rubbery and grippy.
