01 MAVIC PRO
DJI's Mavic Pro landed, or rather took off, in 2016, popularising aerial photography as no drone had before. Why? Because of its blend of portability, accessibility and quality.
Most drones until then had been intimidating to fly, sacrificed camera specs for size, or were too expensive for anyone but pros to justify. At just over 700g, the Mavic Pro was compact and uniquely foldable, making it a clear favourite for outdoor adventurers. Its max speed of 64km/h and 7-kilometre range meant those adventures could be far-flung (well, at least as far as the 27min battery allowed). And with 4K video and 12MP stills, stabilised by a 3-axis gimbal for smoother footage, the camera let creators explore the world of aerial content on a sensible budget.
DJI also simplified the controls and tracking for newbies, and owners could pair the bundled remote with the DJI Go app and their phone. That brought the excitement of watching the live feed on a bigger screen, with the ability to fine-tune flight manoeuvres for a safe and satisfying drone experience.
