Mid range madness

■ When you look at the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G, it’s like déjà vu all over again. It’s like that classic case of triplets, where the family resemblance is uncanny. This phone doesn’t reinvent the wheel when it comes to design – it’s got that familiar boxy construction with a trusty plastic frame.

■ Now, a 6.7-inch HDR10+ certified 10-bit Full HD+ AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate is great, but it isn’t very refreshing (literally). The dynamic refresh rate doesn’t always do its job as intended. It’s like having a sports car that occasionally stalls at a green light. Other than that it’s vivid and responsive.

■ The Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G chip performs just okay. It’s really nothing to write home about. It will perform regular tasks well but you’re not going to set any top scores in games. It really requires you to dial it down a notch for respectable frames.
