Have you ever stood up from your desktop to go answer the door or grab a drink, only to find your headset violently yanked off your head or ripped out of a port on your PC? If you have, this group test is for you.

You don’t have to spend all that much on a headset these days. Even with the low-latency 2.4GHz connection that is all but required for competitive PC gaming, you can pick up a budget model and find it perfectly serviceable for modern-day gaming. Though there is a broadening of the market happening today, on both sides. There are more affordable options, just as there are more expensive options.

This group test covers the latest models on both ends of the spectrum. There’s the affordable Logitech G321, offset by the premium pricing of the Razer BlackShark V3 Pro and Fractal Design Scape. But do you need all the frills? We’ve placed each headset included here on our heads to help you decide.

All-rounder

This is it, folks, the best wireless gaming headset out right now. Previously, we liked the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless for this accolade, and I'll get to that headset shortly, but the BlackShark V3 is a force to be reckoned with.

With an understated style—clad in black with minimal green accents on some of the buttons—Razer's BlackShark V3 doesn't try to dazzle in the literal sense. It's pretty low-key, and I like that about it. It does shine bright in terms of audio quality, though, using a pair of Razer's 50mm TriForce Titanium drivers.
