There's more than a hint of Fallen London about the situation your ship captain finds himself in in Void Sails. Rather than navigating the Sunless Sea, however, you're plying your trade between floating islands, your solar-powered ship capable of a few tricks to help you on your way.

The demo begins with an origin story.

The captain summoned to his ship by the mysterious Man in Yellow is the scholarly sort, prepared for his adventures by a lifetime spent with books, and the owner of an enchanted pair of gloves. He's hoping to track down his missing father, but is immediately accosted by the ship's first mate, a chatty sort, and is required to show some sign of suitability for the job.
