DUCKDUCKGO IS A privacy—focused search engine that’s also available as a web extension and as a standalone web browser for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. In this tutorial, we'll explore some of the key features of the DuckDuckGo Mac web browser.

You can either install DuckDuckGo from the App Store or download it from the website, https://duckduckgo.com/mac. Upon launching it, you’ll be taken through the setup process, in which you can activate various options. These include making it your default web browser, although you may want to use it as an alternative option for websites or sessions for which maintaining your privacy is paramount.

While many web browsers — such as Google Chrome — are built with data collection in mind, DuckDuckGo is focused on protecting your data and privacy. To this end, it actively blocks hidden tracking scripts used by third parties to monitor your web browsing. It also has a Scam Blocker to warn you when you try to visit a malicious website.
