Make the most of this educational app

IF YOU WANT to sharpen your mind, there are many wonderful apps that take a gamified approach to learning. Brilliant is one of them. It helps you improve your STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills, letting you grow your math, data, and computer science knowledge in bite-sized chunks on a regular basis. It also seeks to motivate you every step of the way.

Available for iPhone or iPad, there are dozens of courses available. To make the most of them, you should subscribe, otherwise you'll be restricted to the first chapter of each course — there is a free seven-day trial available to try it out.

Resist the temptation to plunge in and try to learn as much as you can as quickly as you can. We'd recommend pursuing one or two courses at any one time to reduce cognitive load, especially if you're taking an advanced course in the likes of geometry, calculus, Python, artificial intelligence, or quantum mechanics.
