Fueling the future towards energy-efficient mobility

In a strong push toward sustainable mobility, the Department of Energy (DOE), in partnership with Petron Corporation and the country's leading automotive players, staged the 2025 DOE-Petron Fuel EcoRun along the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

The annual event brought together over 60 vehicles—ranging from internal combustion engine (ICE) models to hybrids (HEV, PHEV) and full battery electric vehicles (BEV)—to test and compare their efficiency under real-world driving conditions.

Far from being a competition, the EcoRun is a demonstration of efficiency in action, underscoring how different vehicle technologies perform in realistic settings. Covering a 156-kilometer stretch from Petron TPLEX Northbound to Rosario, La Union, and back to Petron TPLEX Southbound, the event reflects DOE's ongoing efforts to promote responsible energy use and inform Filipino motorists about the value of fuel-efficient driving.

Efficiency Begins at the Pump

As the official fuel partner, Petron Corporation powered all ICE and hybrid vehicles with its benchmark fuels—Petron XCS and Petron Turbo Diesel—ensuring consistent testing standards and credible results.
