India's Tech Breakout Moment

- Aadithya Harish

MADE IN INDIA, MADE FOR THE WORLD

India is no longer just a hub for outsourced IT services, it's becoming a powerhouse of original innovation.

From pioneering digital payment systems to launching space missions at record-low budgets, Indian tech is now built with global scale in mind. This story explores some of the most impactful technologies, companies, and ideas born in India that are now shaping the global future.

India's UPI is powering payments beyond borders

ISRO is building affordable access to space

Startups like Zoho and Freshworks are reshaping global software

EVs, AI, and semiconductors the next big frontiers

UPI – INDIA'S DIGITAL GIFT TO THE WORLD

Launched in 2016 by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), UPI Unified Payments Interface revolutionized digital payments in India. By enabling instant, real-time bank-to-bank transfers using just a mobile number or QR code, UPI made payments frictionless for millions.

But the impact hasn't stayed local. Countries including Singapore, France, Sri Lanka, UAE, and Bhutan have either adopted or partnered with India to bring UPI-style systems into their own digital economies. It's not just a payment tool anymore, it's a template for global financial inclusion.
