FEAST FOR THE SENSES CULINARY DELIGHTS ACROSS INDIA
Exhibit
|March 2024
With its vast geographical diversity and rich cultural heritage, India will never run out of options on what to eat? However, sometimes, we do run out of it due to our demanding taste buds. Being a foodie nation, we look for a symphony of flavours in every bite and savour the food like it's the first time, even though we have been having it for ages. Welcome to the land where every single dish has a century-old story attached to it, and culinary adventures await the 'brave belly' with a tapestry of tastes, textures, and traditions.
THE CAPITAL CONNECTION
Each region offers a unique gastronomic experience, reflecting the influences of history, religion, and geography. Let's begin our culinary escapade in the north, where the tantalising aromas of spices fill the air and hearty dishes reign supreme. In the bustling streets of Delhi, indulge in the iconic flavours of butter chicken, tender tandoori meats, and buttery naan. Wander through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi, where chaat vendors serve up crispy samosas, tangy golgappas, and spicy aloo tikkis, leaving your taste buds craving for more.
SOUTHERN STATES OF INDIA
Down south, the landscape transforms, and so does the cuisine. In the coastal state of Kerala, known as the "Land of Spices," savour the bounty of the sea with fragrant fish curries, coconut-infused stews, and fluffy appams that soak up every drop of flavour. Explore the backwaters, where toddy shops offer freshly caught seafood delicacies paired with fiery fish curries and steaming plates of kappa [tapioca] for a true taste of coastal indulgence.
