The browser reimagined: when your web search becomes a conversation

ChatGPT Atlas

THE BEGINNING OF A NEW BROWSER ERA

OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT Atlas, a new web browser that changes how we experience the internet.

It is not just another way to open tabs or visit websites, it's a complete rethink of what browsing can be when powered by artificial intelligence.

ChatGPT Atlas runs on Chromium, the same open-source foundation that powers Google Chrome, but everything about it feels new. The biggest difference is that ChatGPT is built directly into the browser. You no longer need to switch between an AI chatbot and a browser tab, Atlas brings both worlds together in one clean interface.

Imagine scrolling through an article and being able to ask your browser, "Can you summarise this for me?" or "Compare this laptop with another one I saw earlier." Atlas doesn't just search; it understands what you are looking at and helps you interact with it.

imageOpenAI has also added features like browser memory, which allows Atlas to remember your preferences and browsing history in context, and Agent Mode, which can take actions on your behalf, such as comparing prices or filling out forms. These features are designed to make browsing feel more like collaborating with an intelligent assistant than simply navigating pages.

This shift represents a major step forward. Browsing is no longer about hunting for links, it's about having a conversation with the web.

HOW IT DIFFERS FROM CHROME AND OTHER BROWSERS

Most of us are used to the Chrome-style experience. You type a query, get a list of links, click, read, and repeat. If you need AI help, say, to summarise or analyse something you open another tab, paste the content into ChatGPT or Gemini, and then go back.
