Evnia is Philips’ new gaming brand. Headphones, keyboards and mice are promised in the future, but the first releases are a series of gaming monitors, such as this midpriced 24-inch model.

Plug in your Mac and fire up your favourite game, and you soon see the display’s strengths. They look beautiful, with now shadowing, flickering or frame rate problems. Areas of the screen which are pure black look deep and rich, and the colours are vivid and striking. Special effects are beautifully realised, looking exactly as the artist intended and losing none of their impact. Naturally, this also makes it an excellent screen for watching TV and movies. The narrow bezel makes for very few distractions, and and the richness of the colour gamut gives a real feeling of being there.
