The rapid scale-up of the renewable energy sector in India has been incredible. Still, the next step is to move from capacity to capability and make renewables available round the clock (RTC). To achieve RTC goals, the rapid rollout of utility-scale storage and hybrid systems, grid-edge flexibility (demand response), and smart grids is essential. Accelerating domestic manufacturing across the entire solar value chain would help us derisk supply chain vulnerabilities. In short, we don't just add GW; we have a well-planned outlook for market demand and transmission infrastructure, followed by a vertically integrated manufacturing approach.

Addressing variability - batteries, pumped hydro, hybrids

Renewable industry deploying a mix, short-duration storage using BESS for intra-day firming, pumped hydro for bulk seasonal shifts, and hybrid projects that co-locate wind/solar + storage so you get smoother combined output. Market signals (capacity/ancillary services, seasonal storage tenders) plus faster project execution will be the real game-changer. In practice, auctions and PPAs must value flexibility to cope with demand and supply variability, not just LCOE. The pipeline is large, but execution must catch up.
