CORCON, "a landmark event in the international corrosion conference arena"

"CORCON, over the last four decades has emerged as the Asia's largest and most prestigious conference on the subject of corrosion science and engineering.

This time it is aptly being held in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, a State that boasts of a large number of industries and refineries and is the hub of the automotive industry in India," said Dr N. Rajendran, Chairman, CORCON 2024, while speaking at the inaugural function on November 20, 2024, at the sprawling, picturesque and conveniently located Chennai Trade Centre. "This event brings together experts and innovators to address problems that impacts the industry worldwide. Corrosion is often called the silent destroyer affecting infrastructure and even the safety of personnel. Corrosion mitigation is not only about saving materials, but also conserving resources and ensuring a better future for everyone."

The four-day event held November 20 - 23, 2024 had six plenary and keynote sessions, five technical interactive forums, 15 symposia with more than 150 papers presented over four parallel sessions, besides technical workshops, round table conferences, and poster presentations.

Dr A. K. Tewari, Chairman, AMPP India Chapter, emphasized, "India has embarked upon a journey of becoming a US$45 trillion economy within a few years and aspire to be one amongst the developed countries by 2047. With this comes huge infrastructure creation including roads and highways, marine and offshore, oil and gas, petrochemicals, power plants and transmission systems, utilities, fertilizers and chemicals, etc., etc. So when infrastructure is created the challenge is to preserve the assets. It is a national concern. It is at forums such as CORCON where meaningful technical discussions take place where all the stake holders contribute in finding solutions."
