Tesla has propelled its Cybertruck to a fifth-place ranking among electric vehicles in the U.S. auto market, surpassing the Ford F-150 Lightning in sales during its inaugural year on the road.

CYBERTRUCK SECURES TOP 5 SPOT IN U.S. AUTO MARKET, OUTPACING FORD F-150 IN FIRST YEAR

The company delivered over 38,000 Cybertrucks, outpacing Ford’s electric pickup by more than 5,500 units, according to industry estimates. For automakers, EV buyers, and market analysts, this achievement underscores Tesla’s ability to penetrate a competitive segment with a bold, unconventional truck.

The Cybertruck’s sales figures reflect a strong debut, securing its position among the top five bestselling EVs nationwide, trailing only Tesla’s own Model Y, Model 3, and two other models from its lineup.

Ford’s F-150 Lightning, a direct rival in the electric pickup category, recorded 33,510 units sold, falling short of the Cybertruck’s tally. This milestone highlights Tesla’s edge in a market where traditional automakers like Ford have long held sway with gas-powered trucks.

Tesla began delivering the Cybertruck after years of anticipation, overcoming production hurdles to roll out a vehicle that blends rugged utility with electric performance. The truck’s success in its first year outstrips expectations, challenging Ford’s established F-150 Lightning and signaling a shift in buyer preferences toward Tesla’s offering. This performance sets a benchmark for electric pickups, a segment poised for growth as EVs gain traction.

Tesla’s Cybertruck logged over 38,000 units sold in its debut year, topping the Ford F-150 Lightning’s 33,510 units, based on industry data compiled from registration and delivery estimates. The firm’s electric pickup, priced starting at $79,990 for the all-wheel-drive model, outpaced Ford’s offering despite a higher base cost than the Lightning’s $59,974 entry price. This gap reflects Tesla’s ability to draw buyers with its brand strength and unique design.
