SPOONER LEADS THE JOY OF SIX

HYDE United manager Nick Spooner says he has support from other clubs in calling for the introduction of a six-team National League-style play off format for the Step 3-4 divisions.
Spooner, whose team finished ninth in the NPL Premier last season, believes having six teams in the play-offs would keep the season alive for many other clubs.
His argument is that more clubs involved in the play-off picture helps maintain interest and reduces the number of dead rubbers.
"I have spoken to other managers, and they would all like play-offs like those in the National League," Spooner explained.
"There were some clubs who had doubts about it when it was introduced, but it has proved popular.
"In the last month of the season, we were safe and had nothing to play for.
