EASTLEIGH bounced back from their last-gasp defeat at Gateshead last weekend as they edged past lowly Tamworth in a lackluster affair at the Silverlake.

Paul McCallum's sixth minute strike was all that separated the sides in a game where the Lambs will feel they were good value for a point at the very least.

"Respect to Tamworth, they were never going to make it easy for us," said relieved Spitfires boss Kelvin Davis.

"We had moments of concern towards the end of the game, so it was important for us to see out the result in the end.

"There were a couple of times where we felt we could've done better, but we take the team performance today." Perhaps still licking their wounds from their 7-0 hammering at Barnet last weekend, Tamworth started tentaively as Eastleigh went for the jugular.
