A PENALTY from prolific striker Ollie Pearce handed York City three precious points in their bid to catch leaders Barnet at the top of the National League.

It was no less than they deserved as City dominated for large parts of the game with all-action Dan Batty running the show while Mark Cooper's Glovers, decimated by injuries and off-field problems, fought for scraps with wantaway striker Frank Nouble the lone target up front.

Victory left the Minstermen 11 points adrift of Barnet with a game in hand and upbeat boss Adam Hinshelwood said: "I'm pleased with the three points and the clean sheet as we had a lot of the ball, but we did not work the keeper enough and there were few chances.
