ALEX NEWBY is hoping to be the missing piece to help York City fulfil their EFL dream.
Newby, 29, has agreed to join the Minstermen after two successful seasons at Altrincham where he established himself as one of the National League’s most consistent performers.
Adam Hinshelwood’s York racked up 96 points to finish as runners-up last season, only to suffer a shock 3-0 home defeat to Oldham Athletic in the play-off semi-final.
And attacking midfielder Newby believes he can provide the final piece to the jigsaw to help the Minstermen realise their EFL dream.
“It’s a great move for me,” he told the club’s website. “As soon as it was mentioned, it was something I was keen to get done and I can’t wait to get started.
