MARINER REECE SO GRATEFUL TO MOORS

GRIMSBY-bound Reece Staunton has thanked Spennymoor Town for providing a springboard back into the EFL.

The 23-year-old left-back debuted for Bradford City aged just 15 and made 21 appearances for the Bantams before being released in 2022.

After a season at Bradford Park Avenue, he joined Moors in the summer of 2023, and has spent the last two seasons turning in a succession of dazzling displays at Brewery Field.

Staunton contributed 16 assists last term as Spennymoor finished ninth in National League North and reached the final of the FA Trophy, and also won his second successive player of the year award.

Now Grimsby have offered a return to the pro game, and Staunton who has signed a two-year deal with the League Two side is delighted to be back.
