KEV MUST SETTLE FOR A POINT!

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher felt his deserved at least a share of the spoils from this hard-fought draw with Rochdale at Roots Hall.

A late own goal from Dale defender Liam Hogan cancelled out Devante Rodney's first half header to ensure the game ended all square.

But Maher thought the could have Shrimpers picked up more than just a point.

"A point was the least we deserved and we probably deserved a little bit more with the chances we had," said Maher. "We've showed good character coming back and that's a good sign.

"We hit the crossbar first half, we've had one off the line and had other chances too. We just needed a bit more quality and patience in the final third once we got there.

"In the second half we had chances and the one Mo from Walks [Josh Walker] at the end just goes past the post."

However, Maher was also happy to avoid defeat against strong opposition.
