DECRUZ IS SINGING THE BLUES FOR DREAM TIE

MERSTHAM manager Jamie Decruz says it would be "crazy" not to stage his side's glamour FA Youth Cup tie with Chelsea anywhere other than Stamford Bridge.

The Moatsiders' Under-18s made it to the last 32 of the prestigious competition with a 3-1 victory over Burgess Hill Town on Wednesday.

It earned them a fairytale clash with the Premier League big guns, but early indications suggest next month's game is likely to be played at Kingsmeadow, former home of Kingstonian and AFC Wimbledon and now used by Chelsea's women's and youth sides.

Decruz also manages the club's Isthmian South East team while sharing youth-team coaching duties with former Crystal Palace and Millwall midfielder Bobby Bowry, Charlie Greenwood and current Cray Wanderers boss Steve McKimm. He says the Surrey club will fight to try to get it moved to the bigger stage.
