PROMOTION hopefuls Rochdale and Forest Green were left to reflect on mixed starts to the season as they fought out a battling, yet uninspiring goalles draw at the Crown Oil Arena.

Both sides were looking to bounce back from single-goal defeats in midweek but couldn’t break the deadlock here in a game of few chances.

“I thought it was a very good point,” said Forest Green Rovers manager Steve Cotterill, “It is a tough place to come.”

“I think Rochdale have done very well this season, some of the football they play is really good, but then I thought that some of the football that we played was very good too.

“We probably had the better chances so it could easily have been a game that we could have won 1-0 which would have been a great three points, but I think it is a good point on the road.”

The point leaves Rovers ensconced in mid-table but Cotterill insists it represents progress from Tuesday night’s display at Barnet.
