COOKE'S A TREAT FOR SHAYMEN!

The Shaymen suffered a midweek loss at Southend and went down to a 2-1 defeat by AFC Fylde in their last home game, but bounced back to move within a point of fifth-placed Gateshead in the play-off places.

Cooke dispatched Ryan Galvin's cross for the only goal just after the hour - his seventh goal of the season.

And goalkeeping coach Paul Oakes said: "It was scrappy, showed a lot of grit and determination. We had to dig in to get three points and a clean sheet. We are happy with that."

A miserable afternoon in West Yorkshire produced a game of few chances but it was the relegation-threatened visitors who showed first. Keaton Ward turned Galvin and ghosted into the box but his shot was parried away by keeper Sam Johnson.
