The Cards hosted a Braintree side buoyed by three victories in their last four games, with Ardley's side hoping to claim a big three points towards National League survival.

"We knew it would be tough, Braintree are good at what they do," Ardley said after a game which saw referee Wayne Cartmel brandish no fewer than 12 yellow cards, six for each side. "We tried to pin them back and I thought first half it worked really well.

"They start throwing men forwards and it's hard when the opposition are throwing everything at you."
