SIMPSON DOUBLE DELIGHT IN CUMBRIA

PAUL Simpson was doubly delighted after his promotion-chasing Carlisle United side earned bragging rights over their Cumbrian neighbours Barrow by completing the double over them for the first time since 1961 with a deserved away victory.
Only Ben Barclay’s 15th-minute effort separated the two sides at Holker Street and as much as Simpson was pleased with the Cumbrian derby victory, he was more concerned with keeping in touch with third-place Stevenage in the promotion race.
Carlisle are just one point behind Steve Evans’ side, who have a game in hand on Tuesday night, and Simpson admitted: “It’s about getting results, it’s all about results.
“Yes, everybody would love a brilliant game of football, but it was never going to be that. It was two teams who went hammer and tong, trying to get the result.
“They desperately wanted this result. I think they’ve thrown all their eggs into one basket with their selection to try and get a result today.
