More managerial mayhem in the EFL...

THE managerial churn in the EFL has been brought into sharp focus again by Port Vale’s Darrell Clarke and Walsall’s Michael Flynn being axed in the past seven days – meaning half the clubs have changed bosses this season.

While some of the departures at the 36 clubs were managers resigning to go elsewhere, the vast majority have been sackings – and some outfits, including Watford and Cardiff, are on to their third managers of the campaign.

On Monday, the curtain came down on ex-Walsall boss Clarke’s reign at Vale. The 45-year-old led them to promotion from League Two via the playoffs last term, but a run of two wins in 18 games meant they felt it was time for a change.

Assistant Andy Crosby has been named as Clarke’s interim replacement until the end of the season. He took charge for the 2-1 midweek defeat at Ipswich, a result which left Port Vale six points above the drop zone in 18th.
