Pilgrims take a step nearer promotion
STEVEN Schumacher could not hide his delight after watching his Plymouth team take a huge step towards promotion in the Devon derby.
Despite being second-best for much of the game, the Pilgrims grabbed the all-important goal after 70 minutes when they worked a shot corner routine well and Matt Butcher’s shot took a deflection off former Pilgrim Will Aimson before ending up in the City net.
The win took the Pilgrims back on top of League One and to 86 points with five games remaining as the race for promotion looks firmly in their hands.
“I am absolutely delighted and buzzing with the win,” Schumacher said. “We knew it was going to be a tough game, and we did think it was going to be free-flowing. We knew it was going to be a battle and for the first 45 minutes that’s what it was like.
