New Zealand is an exceptionally beautiful country with probably the majority of its very best courses located on the North Island. This stunner opened in 2000 and was designed by American David Harman, whose introduction to golf course architecture was with Nicklaus Design more than 40 years ago.

He took full advantage of this clifftop location in the Bay of Islands. No fewer than 15 holes enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean and Cavalli Islands, six of which run right along the cliff edge. Those that are slightly further inland work their way through marsh, forest and former agricultural land that is still home to a 4,000-acre farm.

Its remote location and premium fees mean that it is seldom busy and can be kept in peak condition throughout the year.
