Bastille Day falling on a Monday meant that I still haven't had my first rest day of this Tour!

Stage 10

The crowds were out in force to watch a brutal stage. It wasn't the most comfortable day in the gruppetto either. The chain was kept pretty tight today – over 300W average for the stage and a four-hour transfer to the next hotel for good measure.

Rest day

It has finally arrived! A lot of riders feel the need to do efforts or ride for hours on a rest day. Personally I didn't want to touch my bike so I nicked the team car instead and drove into town to meet up with an old friend. Then before dinner all the staff and riders got together to chat, play games and have some finger food. I stayed where my strengths lie (on the table tennis table) so the morale is definitely high after this evening for me.
